The world needs more energy in a shape that is sustainable and clean. Lithium-ion batteries shape our strategies — in such technology’s cutting edge — what do we anticipate in years ahead?
Let’s begin with a few battery basics. A battery is a pack of a couple of cells, each of which has a positive electrode (the cathode), a negative electrode (the anode), a separator and an electrolyte. Utilizing different chemicals and materials for these impacts the properties of the battery — how much power it can save and output, just how much electricity it can supply or the number of instances it can be discharged and recharged (also referred to as biking capability ).
Battery companies are experimenting to locate chemistries which are more economical, denser, lighter and more powerful. We spoke to Saft Research Director Patrick Bernard, that explained three brand new battery technologies.
The manner that sodium-ion (Na-ion) batteries work is much like lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries; as its name suggests, the most crucial difference is that the replacement of lithium ion by sodium. Several sodium-based materials may be applied as the battery electrode, which can be decisive when it comes to performance – cycling capacity or more life for example.
Na-ion batteries offer you numerous benefits. The main one is that they are cheaper than Li-ion batteries (by up to 30 percent per cell). However, this technology won’t be able to contend with Li-ion in terms of energy density by weight volume — and could only be used for applications in which this is not an important requirement. These might consist of storing electricity produced by renewable energy sources like wind power or solar.
WHEN CAN WE EXPECT IT?
Many of manufacturing procedures and the cell parts are like for current Li-ion batteries. The leading development is focused on electrode materials. Na-ion batteries may be ready to put in production in three to four years.
WHAT IS IT?
During charge and discharge, the active materials are layered between the lithium ions in host constructions that were stable in batteries. In lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries, there are no host structures. Sulfur transformed through billing and while discharging, the lithium anode is consumed, the process occurs.
WHAT ARE ITS ADVANTAGES?
A Li-S battery uses quite light materials: sulfur in the electrode and metallic lithium as the negative electrode. That is its theoretical energy density is high: four times greater than that of Li-ion. This makes it a good match for space and aviation industries.
WHEN CAN WE EXPECT IT?
Li-S technology requires further development and research work to continue to increase energy density and to enhance its life expectancy. It is not expected to be ready for applications requiring battery life for a minimum of five years.
WHAT IS IT?
Batteries represent a paradigm change. In modern Li-ion cells, electrons go from one electrode to another across the liquid electrolyte (also called ionic conductivity). In cells, a stable compound which allows it to be migrated inside by lithium ions replaces the electrolyte. This concept is far from new, however over the past ten years — thanks to research that is worldwide — new households of strong electrolytes have been found with high conductivity to a liquid electrolyte, allowing this particular obstacle to be overcome.
The huge benefit is that a marked improvement in safety at mobile and battery amounts: inorganic solid electrolytes are non-flammable if warmed, unlike their liquid counterparts. It allows the use of advanced, high-voltage substances that are high-capacity, allowing thicker, lighter batteries using enhanced safety performance and much better shelf-life as a consequence of reduced self-discharge. As the cells may exhibit a top power-to-weight ratio, they might be ideal for use.
Several kinds of batteries are likely to emerge to market because of advancement persists. The first might be batteries together with anodes, attracting security and enhanced energy performance. With time, milder cells that are solid-state may lead the way.
What 3D Rendering Software do Disney and Pixar use?
Disney and Pixar are considered to be the best 3D animation companies in the world. These two companies consistently churn out amazing 3D films that manage to become box office successes. So, it is only common sense that they would utilize the very best 3D software and many smaller companies, such as Render Vision in Melbourne, also use their software.
As someone who wants to follow down the same path, there is a good chance that you’re interested in getting your hands on the same software that they use. What software do they rely on? The answer will be provided in the guide below.
The Early Days
Over the years, Disney and Pixar have experimented with a wide assortment of programs. In the 1990s, it was reported that Alias Research’s PowerAnimator was the industry’s choice. Eventually, the company began making a new entertainment software, which became known as Maya. The company managed to score many big customers, including Sony Pictures, Warner Brothers, Walt Disney, and Pixar. In 1995, Alias Research and Wavefront were actually acquired by SGI. The companies became known as Alias Wavefront. Even after that, the PowerAnimator software continued to be a hit.
This software was made to produce several big hits, including Toy Story. Toy Story just happened to be a huge hit for Walt Disney. It is safe to say that they got their money’s worth from the PowerAnimator software.
There is a good chance that both companies still utilize 3rd party application from time to time. However, Pixar has also taken steps to create their very own in-house 3D animation software. The company now creates a lot of their films using RenderMan. Pixar’s RenderMan is a photorealistic 3D rendering software that has proven it can be used to create box office successes. Just check out Pixar’s films and you’ll find this out for yourself. Thankfully, everyone can now use the software for free. In late May of 2014, Pixar announced it would be releasing a free non-commercial version of the software to the public.
It was eventually released in early 2015.
Who Uses RenderMan?
RenderMan has become a hit with production studios all around the world. It is now used by a handful of companies in the United States, including Reel FX, Industrial Light & Magic and Walt Disney. The software is also used by Animal Logic, Mac Guff, Double Negative, Image Engine, and the Moving Picture Company. It has been used for numerous blockbusters, including Aladdin, The Lion King, The Lord of the Rings, Titanic, and even Avatar.
A number people are not as youthful as we all use to be! I’ve found body parts I never understood I’d because they speak to me on a regular basis. A few days the pains and aches are subtle, other days they shout!
I’m learning approval (not simple to get a notoriously strong character). Another thing I’m learning to do would be to follow my body and adapt myself where I could. I’ve utilized my hands a great deal of life and wish to hear when they talk about pain, also!
What do we do to stick with our enthusiasm for knitting or crocheting and listen to our palms? Listed below are a couple of the ways I’m learning to correct and craft. Alternative knitting information visits us here.
1. Do your hands work. .when your hands get the job done! Give yourself a rest!
2. Remember too, that states “if you do not use it, you lose it”. Perhaps you have times where you can not do a great deal of knitting but attempt to do a little bit. Whether a couple of rows or a couple of stitches, give it a go. It’s exercise!
3. Try a little wine while you snore! Your aches and muscles will not feel really bothersome and it surely could not hurt!
4. Try out patterns that have various stitches. Change of movement gives different pieces of your hands a chance to limber up and fortify.
5. Think bigger! Make projects which you are able to view (bulky yarns) and utilize larger needles to your knit jobs. Larger means simpler to manage, easier to hang to over the times where you’ve got the dropsies.
6. Arm knitting is an excellent way to still craft vases along with other things. It is fast and will provide you some fantastic handmade presents without a great deal of hand usage. .perfect!
ADJUSTING TO LIFE
7. Loom knitting is excellent for achy hands since you’ll have an entirely different movement than that which you use for conventional knitting. You still receive the knit stitches which you understand and with distinct movement, can work up a few beautiful handmade matters. Looms are fantastic for your children, too!
8. I have not attempted the Portuguese knitting method but I’ve been advised that I have been afflicted by arthritis, tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, or some other aches and pains that have prevented you out of knitting as much as you would like, this really is actually the knitting method that will keep you knitting!
3D printing is also an innovation that has earned quite a lot of buzz over the past few years. The press has depicted the technologies as a radical force with the capability to disrupt big businesses (worldwide manufacturing), or even an ominous threat to our way of life or security (widely-available 3D printed firearms). But there is lots of space for private uses of 3D printing which may not be earth-shattering but are reasonably fresh.
3D pens fit the bill nicely. Rather than using ink such as a regular pen, they utilize plastic that melts at a higher temperature. After heating to the melting stage, the plastic is forced through the tip, creating a scenario where you can “draw,” either on a surface or upward in the atmosphere, to make 3D objects which solidify and harden when the plastic sheeting, which happens quite quickly. A 3D pen, then, is a fantastic tool for children who like to tinker and adults may also get in on the fun.
Wait, Just What Is the Difference Between a 3D Pen along with a 3D Printer?
Nearly anybody can certainly tell the difference between a pen and a printer, but if we are referring to the 3D forms, the question has a bit more complicated because the tech is in fact quite similar. Both share lots of the principles like the kind of heating component and extruder. Nevertheless, the primary difference comes in their performance: 3d printers have been directed by motors and applications while the pen (not surprisingly) is controlled by your hand.
Together with the fundamentals down, the issue remains of what sorts of items you may make with those 3d pen apparatus. The programs are possibly endless, but a few favorite applications include decor for your home, various arts and crafts, school jobs, and presents for many occasions. For more real thoughts, you can get inspiration in the broader community on Pinterest and YouTube where lots of 3d printing pen fans post their creations to the world to view (and “such as”). These creations vary widely from items such as flowers and shoe decorations to functions constituting a Ferris wheel and also an arrangement of sushi rolls. To put it differently, the sky’s the limit!
There are many distinct manufacturers of 3d printing pens on the market and also a massive array of versions, so let us now have a look at what would be the best ones currently in the marketplace. For more details check out this website.
3Doodler Produce 3D Pen
3Doodler is considered by many to be the industry standard of 3D pens since it had been the first significant brand to be published and has become the best-selling since. There have been some design iterations over this period and this is the most recent one yet, using a better drive system for enhanced functionality and simplified controls. Additionally, it boasts diverse nozzles and many accessories to customize your own drawing experience.
Soyan, a company, hailing from Shenzhen, China, is a fantastic case of the harvest of lower-cost makers of 3D pens which have arisen to challenge the more prominent brands. It is mild and somewhat smooth to control and may be used by both kids and adults alike. The pen needs to be plugged in, however, along with the cable that comes with it is not lengthy, so that may be a problem depending upon your routine work area. This is an excellent selection for prospective amateurs who only need to begin dabbling in the region of 3d printing, without spending a lot of the cash.
This pen from YaYA3D, yet another Chinese firm, is just another lower-priced alternative that offers you high performance. It works with two kinds of plastics, ABS and PLA, to provide you a bit of flexibility (with buying you will get 2.2ounce ABS 1.75millimeter filament to get you started). Additionally, it is simple to prepare for use with no complicated setup. The aluminum nozzle steps in at 0.7mm.
Scribbler is just another of the very mainstream brand names at the 3D pen room and is a lightweight pen at just 2.3 oz. It’s a great selection for children as it’s easy to command; only be careful that kids avoid hurting themselves on the hat trick. The filament extrudes easily and overall contributes to an intimate drawing encounter.

Why Use 3DMate
The group is enthusiastic about studying and moving with changing technologies. 3D printing is a method of the future and has been made known to schools as a STEM educational instrument. 3D pens are less expensive than 3D printers plus also a terrific way to introduce pupils to 3D technology. The 3Dmate is the best compliment to some 3D Pen. Students may create prototypes, landmark arrangements, rockets, automobiles, doll houses, etc. The mat can also be very significant for helping younger kids using shape recognition and spatial comprehension. It assists with tactile learning in addition to developing and building exceptional motor skills.
Though 3D printing just recently turned into a mainstream subject, its origins trace back into the 80’s when Hideo Kodama of Nagoya Municipal Industrial Research Institute published the earliest accounts of a functioning photopolymer active monitoring system (1981). Soon after that, the first kind of 3D printing, Stereolithography, has been devised by Charles Hull at 1984 (pictured above, picture courtesy of industryweek.com). In stereolithography, an electronic version can be made from images (see the procedure in the diagram below).
This advancement was a massive step forward for technology and could make waves inventors. With this innovation, users can now try out designs and prototypes more efficiently before buying big production batches. Charles Hull went on to launch 3D Systems in 1986 that is present among the most significant 3D printing firms alive now.
In 1992 the initial Stereolithographic Device (or SLA system) was created by 3D Systems
The first SLA machine used a UV laser solidifying photopolymer, a liquid using the viscosity and color of honey which made items layer by layer. This was the very first kind of rapid prototyping which could forever alter the world of design and engineering. A modern-day SLA apparatus is pictured on the right.
SLS is discovered
At roughly precisely the same time, another kind of additive production was in the works, known as Selective Laser Sintering or SLS. In SLS, a substance in powder form is warmed with a solid laser in just below its melting point, causing the powders to sinter together to make the big 3D object that was meant to be made. This tech patent was registered in 1989 and was licensed to a company named DTM Inc, which was later obtained by 3D Systems.
1989 was also the year that FDM printing was patented by the co-founder of Stratasys, 3D System’s rival company. FDM is a proprietary technology nevertheless held by Stratasys now, however, is also the procedure used by the vast majority of consumer machines (depending on the open source RepRap version, pictured below).
Through the 90’s and 2000’s new technologies continued to be released, nevertheless focused entirely on industrial programs meanwhile development and research were penalized for more special tooling, casting, and production procedures. It was during that time that the expression “Rapid Prototyping” was first coined. Researchers created 3D printed organs for transplant using a patient’s cells and so reducing danger for rejection.
3D Printing and Business
3D printing started to grow into two big businesses. The first was that the high end, costly 3D printing equipment employed in a part manufacturing for high value, highly engineered, complicated pieces. Some businesses who have seen great benefits from such technologies would be the aerospace, automotive, medical and nice jewelry industries.
The next industry comprises the 3d technology whose purpose was to boost concept development and operational prototyping. They have been being developed since wallet-friendly systems which were user-friendly and may be worked in a non-industrial setting. This business is where the current desktop 3D printers emerged out of.
Through the 2000’s 3D printing technologies continued to evolve to add pre-assembled versions with various capabilities. 2007 was a significant year for the arrival of available background 3D printers since the RepRap notion of an open source printer arose, but it was only in 2009 the very first kit printer has been accessible.
Since that time, many more entry-level 3D printer makers have emerged with reduced costs and better precision. This brings us to present day, where pupils as young as faculty are now learning product growth with 3D printing technologies. A desktop 3D printer has become commonplace amongst educational institutions and is a requirement in any engineer’s office. AIO Robotics has altered 3D printing by making the very first standalone All-In-One program, ZEUS, complete with 3D scanning and printing applications fully built from the slicer into the on-board version editor and considerably more. Fully automated calibration and potentially the most user-friendly, intuitive interface makes the learning procedure for 3D printing easy for consumers of all ages. ZEUS empowers even the ones who aren’t knowledgeable about the tech to undergo 3D printing by making the procedure as it needs to be more straightforward.
With this technology available to numerous has changed the character of inventing, which makes it accessible and painless for a lot more individuals to get their thoughts out to the world. 3D printing was touted as a commercial revolution in itself, and we’re honored to be part of it. We can not wait to see what this game-changing technology can direct individuals to make next.

Today we are looking at this pen for Dewang or the Dewang 3D pen; I don’t know if that’s the name of the pen, of the company, maybe both. Alright so, it comes in this lovely box and here’s the pen, first thing you get as you can see the pen is pretty small and compact, it’s about the same size as the “3 Doodler Create”. It comes with a little pen stand one little spool of filament.
If you are going to use this pen, you probably wanna buy some filament right away, so you have more than just one single color to work with.
What this pen uses is a PCL filament unlike PLA, or ABS like most other pens and this filament melts at a pretty low temperature similar to the “3 Doodler Start” but not quite as cold. I did test it out before drawing on my hands, and it does get hot, not as hot as the other pens but more so than the “3Doodler Start”. You can read more about the 3 Doodler Start, at www.penandplastic.com. The best 3D pens for kids review has this pen in there.
We also have the power cable here which looks like it’s a USB cable.
There’s no plug here, so it’s just a USB which means you either have to connect it to a computer, or you have to have your USB outlet adapter.
This pen has three speeds which are changed by pressing this top button, and each speed changes the temperature as well to make it work best for that filament. So if you are printing at the high rate, it will get up to 100 degrees C, but if you are at low speed, it’ll go down to 80 degrees So that limits the filaments you can use but it also makes it very straightforward and simple to use. So you don’t have to worry about changing the temperature yourself. So, this pen has the forward feeding button and the reverse feeding button to get the filament out if you hold forward you can either double-click it to keep it going automatically, or you can just press it and it will draw while you are holding it. Alright so seems to be working the question is, what do we make?Well, since this is an excellent low-temperature filament that lets you draw on electronics and that kind of stuff I thought I would finally do a 3D drawn phone case it’s pretty much the biggest thing that you guys have been asking for both with the 3D pen and 3D printer.
What do we make?

How to make a phone case with a 3D pen
So today we are gonna make the 3D pen version of a phone case. Of course, we are gonna make it for my phone it’s a “Nexus 6P” Sorry “Apple people, ” but the concept is the same, I mean yeah, it’s drawing on a phone All right so let me get my original case off.
Don’t need that anymore, the folks at Dewang were kind enough to send me some extra filament, so I have enough to do this project, So I got some black, some white, blue and green. So I think I’m going to make a little abstract nature scene. So let’s go ahead and open up this blue to start out.
Some people were saying to put the spool around your wrist to keep it out of the way. So I’m going to go ahead and take their word for it and try that outYou feed the filament in the back here by the power cord and just press the feeding button. So you can hear it’s pretty quiet.Doesn’t make that clicking beatboxing noise of the Scribbler. And you can see yellow filament that I tested out earlier, and we’re going to let that run through until it turns blueLet’s start by doing some water here at the bottom. So as you can see by going to the front and the back kind of holds the filament in place even if it’s not sticking to the phoneSo that I’ll do! Alright, so we have the bottom of my phone protected.
Well. . . “protected”I don’t know how protective this filament is but it looks cool.
Now I’m gonna reverse out this blue filament so that we can switch out colors. Stop…Ok…There we go!
Just gonna clip the end, so it stays nice and neat. And now let’s try out this white filament. I like the wrist technique.
So it does take a while to switch out the colors mean, the filament has to feed all the way through this pen..You know?
Yeah, this filament stays soft for a long time it’s. . . Pretty pliable so you can print something and then shape it with your fingers and mold it around a little bit interesting so now let’s do this top half.
Going to do the same thing by drawing on both sides and connect it, so that is holding onto the phone. First I’ll outline this side.
Alright, so know I’ve drawn all the way around the edge, and it goes a little bit around the front and back.
That’s going to hold this print onto the phone and I don’t have to worry about it falling off anymore now I’m going to basically fill this whole top part with white. And that’s why it helps that you can double tap this feed button and you don’t have to hold it down the whole time you are drawing.
The “high speed” option it’s also definitely a plus when you have to fill a large surface like this. I’m a pretty patient person, but that took a long time. But check it out!Now we’ve got a beautiful solid white background.
And I was going to draw some little trees on there. But first I think I’m going to do a sunSince we got this round finger-print thing, and we got some yellow filamentYeah!Let’s make a sun. Alright, You know what?I was going to put some trees in the background but know it looks more like a little ocean scene, so I think I’ll add a small sailboat. This is a great activity for children and the PLA is completely safe for use.
I feel like making a sea monster. So we’re going to put a Kraken in here.
All right, well by now I used every color I have except for black, so mind as well throws some little birds in there.
You know, the details make the difference alright, there you have it!I made a pretty cool phone case, and it took maybe a couple of hours, but I think it turned out well and this Dewang pen is pretty great for the job. It is also a great 3D pen for kids.
It does a lot of things right, so I like that it has the filament on a spool, so I was able to fill in all of this white without having ever changed the filament add more filaments.
I didn’t even end up using the whole white spool to fill this up, so that’s pretty good!
I also liked to have multiple speeds which helped me fill it up a little faster than with maybe the “3 Doodler Start” which will also be great for drawing on phones but this one with the multiple speed was very nice for thatThe special PCL filament that this pen uses pretty awesome stays soft for a really long time if you screw up you can kind of push things into placeBut, because it doesn’t harden so quickly it’ll be a lot harder to draw and straight up into the air and things like that if you trying to actually do “real 3D drawing”this pen may be a little tough for that but if you are drawing onto things like a phone or. . . I don’t know.
Still, it’s pretty awesome.
I just checked in there actually several companies that sell PCL filament for 3D printers you can buy any 1. 75mm PCL filament and it should work with this pen, and then you get like a giant spool of it, and it’ll last you a long time.
I hope you guys enjoyed that “Dewang 3D Pen” it’s great for the job so make sure you guys check out some of the other best 3d pens for kids on the market today.
3D printing pens allow us to draw any three dimensional objects. It works using electricity and gives you the ability to rectify the mistakes in the drawn figure. It also comes with host of other features. A 3D Pen utilizes plastic thread (just like a pen or pencil uses ink or a lead) which melts and can be used to develop several forms of art. Let us talk more about these tech toys!
Reasons For The Popularity Of 3D Pens:
This pen allows to draw either on templates or on any other surface within minutes. It can be also be used as a repairing tool on small scales. Creating /drawing from this tool is not at all time taking as it will hardly take 1-2 minutes to melt its plastic thread and make things stationary.
3D Pens will evidently bring a major revolution in teaching methods in many subjects by making things visually real and easy to accept & understand. With patience, practice & skills, we can undoubtedly create something artistic with the pen. It is 100% customizable with diverse material options and with unlimited geometrical options.

It is of utmost usage as it gives life to one’s imaginations, making 3D objects possible to see & study with precision. It is surely a one time affordable investment in comparison to all other products. Users can even choose the color of their choice just by pressing buttons present in the pen.
Wonders In Medical Field:
The biggest blessing which comes with this tool is that it can help to save lives of patients dying in search of organs. Doctors are able to create complex organs of human bodies and then use them whenever required.
This invention is surely a kid’s delight as the pen uses ultra violet rays instead of heat for hardening of liquid which is being extruded for making things lifelong stationery.
The loss companies face due to the manufacturing of prototypes of products for trial purposes to see whether the final product will be a success or not will be terminated – thanks to the 3D pens. Modifications in temporary products will be physically & financially an easy job consuming less time and resulting in more serviceable products.
Financial losses due to storage of huge machines will also come to an end as these 3D pens can be used to create the end products using very less electricity.
Results obtained from 3D pens will not only be easily accessible, but also eco-friendly leading to limited amount of dumped industrial waste.
Turning A Creative Society :
3D pens will definitely be valuable whether they are for commercial, educational or personal use. This adaptable technology surely offers tons of potential, allowing turning people’s interpretations into tangibility, faster than ever before
A 3D pen is basically something that looks like a bulkier version of an ordinary pen or a pencil, however, instead of using the traditional lead or ink that is used in pencils or pen, the 3D printing pen operates using plastic. The 3Doodler is a 3D pen developed by Peter Dilworth, Maxwell Bogue total diet and Daniel Cowen of WobbleWorks, Inc.(formerly WobbleWorks LLC). The 3Doodler works by extruding heated plastic that cools almost instantly into a solid, stable structure, allowing for the free-hand creation of three-dimensional objects.
